Wow – Amazing after nearly 10 years OpenDNS by now Cisco Umbrella has secure searches with DNS over HTTPS. Yes, they now have a new service and it envelopes your DNS queries for privacy. Yet another way to dodge uncle sam and that great big data center in Utah. Well, as much as possible that is anyways.  SSL Decryption kind of peels that back a bit.  However, for general use among network providers, you have something at least. You could always wrap it up twice before searching online.

So what really is to gain here ?  Take a look at this article as it explains.

It may stop the occasional onlooker but for the gov’t, if they want to see or know, they will.  You’d have to come up with another protocol that rides over TCP/IP that they know nothing about. Kind of like that decoder ring in the cereal box when you were younger but more sophisticated. Wait for it, its coming.
